good old CNR, Carol Burnett show, great in Blazing Saddles too!!!

Sean August 4, 2009 at 11:18 am

He was great on The Hollywood Squares as well!

Deborah August 4, 2009 at 11:19 am

He was a comic on TV in the 70″s/80’s. Had big glasses acted the nervous type. He was on a TV called ‘The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, also on Hollywood Square.

Deborah August 4, 2009 at 11:21 am

He wasn’t in Blazing Saddles or Carol Burnett, that was Harvey Korman.

John Apgar August 4, 2009 at 11:22 am

He wasn’t on Carol Burnett or in Blazing Saddles – that was Harvey Korman. Charles was on ‘The Ghost and Mrs. Muir’ and used to be a panelist on ‘Match Game’.

Charles Nelson Reilly is the TELLMANATOR!!!!!

Diane August 4, 2009 at 11:33 am

I LOVE Charles Nelson Reilly. He was a superb actor on Broadway; a regular on Match Game with Gene Rayburn; a gentle, talented & funny guy. This video shows everything that he’s NOT.

Maggie August 4, 2009 at 11:33 am

OMG, you ARE young, aren’t you?! Reilly was an actor and comedian (lots of bit parts). I think he also taught acting. In his later years, he did a lot of game shows. He died about two years ago.

Shelton August 4, 2009 at 11:34 am

Yeah, I remember him from “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”. He was the bumbling, friend of Mrs. Muir, who the ghost just loved to torment. I enjoyed watching him on “Match Game” too. Funny guy.

I think you might have him confused with Harvey Korman, Michael, as he was on Carol Burnett’s show and in Blazing Saddles, but I don’t remember CNR on those shows.

No worries though, gives me yet another excuse to watch Blazing Saddles again (not like I need any more excuses….). As it is, I’ve had ‘Holy Grail’ on repeat loop for almost six weeks and could use a change.

Well he was a very successfull broadway & sitcom actor.
Never heard of him before though. I come from the UK
The video thats a bit strange

Rande Dager August 4, 2009 at 11:41 am

He was on game show panels in the 70’s and I believe also into the 80’s. He was a comedian and was rather sophisticated with his responses. He seemed somewhat “gay”, often wore a shiny bathrobe, and always smoked and/or held a pipe.

Martin Wales August 4, 2009 at 11:45 am

CNR is probably best remembered for being a regular on “Match Game” for years. He was also on kids shows, as an evil magician dude in a flying machine and in a lot of broadway.

All the facts about Charles N.R. on Wikipedia at:

Thanks for the vid. It was fun!

That was just WRONG, but Funny!
Well I’m 50 so of course I remember CNR from his regular role on The Match Game as a panelist. But I’ll bet most people don’t even realize that he also was a comedian, a director and a drama teacher & known for his comedic roles in movies, children’s television, animated cartoons.
Thanks for the comic relief Tellman.

Sean August 4, 2009 at 12:01 pm

Wow, I guess I’m a bit late to the party. Looks like you already got your answer. Did you really not know who he is/was or are you just pulling our legs?

Sean

P.S. Shelt – I agree. Going to have to watch Blazing Saddles now.

Shazzam23 August 4, 2009 at 12:05 pm

Aw common Tellman. Didn’t you watch Hollywood Squares? Here’s a link that gives a good briefing on who he was and what he did during his 76 years of life on earth: http://bit.ly/11cM0V

The JibJab was awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Randall Thompson August 4, 2009 at 12:12 pm

Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me! CNR on Laugh-In and Love American Style were my favs… Boy, did I just date myself… Thanks for the memory…

Shireen August 4, 2009 at 12:13 pm

He was on the Hollywood Star game show.

Troy August 4, 2009 at 12:48 pm

This was the reason I watched Match Game. This guy was the life of the show, along with Brett Somers. You would have thought those 2 were married. They were soooo funny together. CNR cracked my shi*@ up!!

Jaye August 4, 2009 at 2:44 pm

I remember him from the Hollywood Squares. Annoying, ingratiating little laugh. Still alive, is he?

Kerri August 4, 2009 at 4:33 pm

Woh! If anything he should be working for South Park coz the imagery is pretty clever mate. Some of the images of the chick drumming and bits of the music sound a WEE bit like the band The White Stripes, y’know the two piece band with the chick Meg drumming and dude Jack on the gat?
Whoever created it must be a bit cheeky aye?

Brother Paul August 4, 2009 at 5:07 pm

Charles Nelson Reilly was none of those things in the video. He was most noted for his “Hnnnh-heh” type of laugh. Most well known in the sixties and seventies, and did a lot of bit spots on a lot of shows. As a matter of fact, I think he also did Charlie the Tuna in the Chicken of the Sea ads, if I remember right.
And, yeah, I’m 50, so now you know.

Andrew August 4, 2009 at 6:29 pm

I like Weird Ad, always good goof songs he comes up with. No clue on CNR, but the guy with the glasses been kicked around, isn’t that you, Tellman ?!

Vicki August 5, 2009 at 4:26 am

CNR was and actor and comedian. He wore goofy looking big glasses that were round. He often did guest appearances on Carol Burnett show and was a regular on the Hollywood Squares. He died a couple or 3 years ago. Talk about going down memory lane lol!

Bill The Coach August 6, 2009 at 12:06 am

Guess I’m real late to this party. CNR was the best “star” on The Match Game. He sat on Brett Summers left(our right) they always joked about his tupe. Watched it as a kid and now every morning before work on GSN. I first saw him as the evil wizard on a Saturday morning kids show called Lidsville. I think that show was created by Sid and Marty Croft. The show was alot like another one of their shows H R Puffinstuff except most of the characters were hats. He was a good friend of Burt Reynolds and directed many shows at Burts Theater in Florida I think. He also directed some operas. this is all from memory. No google search here.

Rick August 10, 2009 at 3:16 pm

Tellman………….Went to your site re the free CD. You did a great job describing the content. Your description of where you were at financially sounds like me now. The exception is I am considerable ilder than you. Yes…I am a senior citizen and living on a fixed income. I am still in fair shape and need to work but with the economy in the toilet and jobs hard to find especially for seniors I am “outta luck.” I was feeling good about what you had to say about the lessons in the CD and wanting to help with the hidden agenda being if the recepient of the CD were successful they would naturally have trust in you and become a VALUED customer. There is an old saying..”don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” I’ve always subscribed to it. I said to myself FINALY a man with integrity. I’ll give something to them for free. They’ll appreciate it and come right back to me to make more purchases. Then..”all you have to do is try out my $94.00 per month club. Hell Tell I can’t afford that right now buddy. If I got the program together, and the support is there as you promised and ended with generating a couple of grand a month I’d be fine. I don’t want to waiste your time not do I want to charge something that I can’t afford.Just don’t have the money. Now I suppose that puts me out to pasture because after all is said and done…you’re in business to make money….Rick
